Five villagers including a police inspector were injured in a clash between farmers and policemen at Kanhar dam project in Amavar village in Dudhi area of the naxalite infested Sonebhadra district on Tuesday morning. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Sonebhadra, S S Yadav said that on Tuesday early morning, hundred of villagers attack the police picket and chased the labourers working there. The villagers were led by one Roma Mallick, police said. Later police clashed with the agitators, in which an Inspector and five villagers were injured. One of the villager also received bullet injury. The injured inspector has been rushed to the BHU hospital in Varanasi. Situation was tense but under control, the ASP claimed. He also denied any naxalite hand in the attack. The villagers were demanding more compensation and jobs who lost their lands in the 30 year old Kanhar dam project.
